Module 12 – Empowering Student Voices in VET Governance and Management

This micro-course first tackles the benefits of including VET in the decision-making processes that concern their education and how only by fostering learner participation and a whole-school approach, VET systems can become meaningfully inclusive. The course then goes onto exploring how this can be achieved by implementing a series of practices that a) strengthen the role of student representatives and b) integrate student feedback into decision-making processes. The micro-course is built around the principle “Nothing About Us Without Us,” emphasising that decisions affecting any group should involve that group directly. Originating from the disability rights movement, this idea has been adopted by student and youth movements to ensure meaningful inclusion. Here you will learn to apply this principle to foster learners’ participation, equity, and empowerment in decision-making
