Chapter 1 – From Planning to Implementation: Monitoring Progress
The development of an Inclusive Engagement Action Plan for your VET institution is only valuable when it actually gets implemented and leads to meaningful change. To ensure this, VET institutions must establish robust processes for monitoring all elements in the Action Plan. The following elements are important to take into account:
- Timeliness: Timely action is crucial. Long delays between agreement on the Action Plan and its implementation can diminish the impact and erode the trust of learners.
- Transparency: “Closing the feedback loop” is essential. Regularly inform students and staff about actions taken based on the Action Plan. This can be achieved through various channels:
- “You said, we did” campaigns.
- Dedicated websites showcasing actions already undertaken and planning of remaining actions.
- Regular updates on concrete improvements within the institution’s virtual learning environment.
- Positive Reinforcement: Acknowledge and celebrate successful implementation of improvements and positive feedback received.
- Addressing Challenges: Be transparent about challenges encountered and explain why specific actions may not (yet) be feasible. Use these instances to identify potential areas for further improvement.
